The Wheelbarrow Boys Go To College

Greeting citizens of cyberspace, its high time that this site was updated. Most of the links in the post below have gone bad, so i figured it was time. We are also mourning the departure of one of our own. Marcus, the co-founder of our American Freestyle Wheelbarrowing Association is leaving the heartland for college in Idaho. But we will endure! keep those wheelbarrows bouncing and keep that revolution revolving.

UPDATE!!

Here I am finally updating! if your wondering about the lack of activity here its because there really hasnt been much, wheelbarrowing has gone into hibernation for the winter. when summer ended and school started back up all our free time mysteriously dissapeared--funny how that happens-- and so for now wheelbarrowing is on hold for the school year. But dont worry, the sport lives on and will return with a vengeance come summer time. so im signing off for now; email me (from my personal blog) or leave comments if you have any questions.

History Lesson

here, due to popular request, is how freestyle wheelbarrowing began ...

it all began many many moons ago, sometime around the week before finals. one afternoon me and bryan (whiting) and marcus were all making dirt ramps in his back yard. when we got bored bryan climbed into the wheelbarrow and marcus pushed him off the ramp, freestyle wheelbarrowing! i said. little did i know that it would soon spawn the nationwide craze that it is today. i did a google search the next day and came upon the british wheelbarrow freestyle website. this intriuged me and caused me to look further into it. i dowloaded a short video off their website ( its was the only one that worked ) and thought it was pretty sweet. about a week later me and marcus were at the mission comunity planting day for a boy scout service project and began dancing with the wheelbarrows we were using to move mulch. this dancing soon evolved to spinning and many other things. the old guy shoveling the mulch didnt like it much and let us know very sternly several times, but we thought it was pretty sweet.

our first wheelbarrow was names jolene, we spent close to 20 hours painting and restoring her from the sad condition we found her in. there are pictures of her in the archives. as pretty as she was she was too heavy to do tricks with so we went and purchased the smallest wheelbarrows we could find (true temper 4 cu.ft.) the models we still widely use today. to make a long story short we wheelbarrowed alot throughout the summmer. we performed twice at EFY and a Youth Conference. we have continued to invent new tricks and improve our skills up until now. there are great things yet in store for freestyle wheelbarrowing.
