weve had such a big response to our humble sport of freestyle wheelbarrowing, due partly to our big break when we were so generously featured on 96.5 the buzz ( thank you so much lazlo and slimfast) , that ive decided to post about how to properly modify a wheelbarrow
How To Properly Modify A True Temper 4cu wheelbarrow
1. prep the bucket for painting
decide on a design and tape off the patern, its very important that you use vinyl tape or blue painters tape, NOT masking tape. masking tape leaks a bit. after you have your pattern outlined cover the rest of the wheelbarrow with newspaper.
2. painting
when painting its important to do more smaller coats to avoid dripping. dont go crazy and spray the crap outta it when your 3 inches away cause you WILL get drips, do 2 or 3 good coats. after you paint its important to use clear coat, but as we learned you cant go crazy with this either, you cant see it when it goes on so its hard to tell how much is going on. do LIGHT coats because like any spray paint if you to too heavy a coat it will dissolve the paint under it and give you something like a ghetto crackle finish, ruining your paint job. the rule about clear coat applys to all paint, if you put too much on or try to spray another coat when the first coat is wet it WILL dissolve the paint. trust us we know.
3. assembly
this is where the fun comes in. it helps if you raise up the wheelbarrow and get a friend to help, follow the instructions provided and reassemble the wheelbarrow. now you have to make an important decision, do you want ground supports or not? without the supports you have a little more space to move and a little lighter load to toss around. i personally like the unsupported wheelbarrow.
